Rebel boys advance on to section tournament

MANKATO &045;&160;The United South Central boys’ golf team finished in second place at the sub-sectional in Mankato to advance on as a team.

The Rebels finished behind Blue Earth Area which won with a 320 while USC shot 334.

&8220;We shot well enough for second place which is what we needed to do today,&8221; said USC head coach Randy Halvorson.

Tyler Pederson led the way for the Rebels shooting a 78, Jared Ludemann shot 81, Alex Pederson added an 83 and Simon Christensen rounded out the top four with a 92.

Chad Stensrud and Dan Giese rounded out the Rebel varsity with a 96 and 99, respectively.

NRHEG was led by Josh Beatty who carded 87, Drew Harrington and

Justin Kormann added 88s and Seth Hansen rounded out the top four with an 89.

Jon Kormann fired a 94 and Ryan Kerkhoff completed the Panther varsity with 100.

Alden-Conger was paced by Sam Hallman who shot an 88 while Nick Reindal and Joey Larson both carded 91s.

Blake Peterson added a 101 and Eric Wessling shot 111.

The meet medalist was Brian Barnes from Blue Earth who shot a 75. The individual section cutoff was 84.

The section tournament will take place Tuesday in Fairmont.
