Rebels’ late rally comes up short

WATERVILLE &045;&160;Trailing 9-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning the United South Central baseball team made a big push to continue its season.
Unfortunately, the Rebels met a little too much resistance in Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and finished the 2006 campign with a 9-6 sub-section loss.
Zach Badura started the seventh with a walk, Andrew Penning followed with a single and Eric Grunzke drove in a run with a double. Derek Schmidt plated two more runs with another doulbe before Lucas Beyer brought home the final run with a base knock.
Beyer was the lone Rebel with multiple hits in the game while Taylor Herman picked up the team’s other RBI knocking in Chis Yost in the second before scoring himself.
The fifth inning was the biggest for WEM as it scored five times to buld the 9-2 lead.
