The Claw Fairy’

One day Jesse said to Boo, &8220;You have no claws, what happened to you? Were you born with something wrong with your paws? Did a monster rip them out with its big sharp jaws?&8221;
&8220;Those are good stories but none of them true,&8221; said Boo. &8220;The truth you will hear just this one time and anytime after, it will cost you a dime. I used to sharpen my claws on lots of different things: the rug, some socks, an old pizza box, the door, the floor, and a whole lot more. One day I was sharpening them on the couch. One of my claws broke and simply fell out. Now someone once told me, and I know it sounds strange, that if you put a broken claw under your pillow you’ll awake with some change. A few nickels, a quarter, or even a dollar! I would put it in my piggy bank and save for a new collar, So that night I did as I said. Put my claw under my pillow and rested my head.&8221;
&8220;What happened?&8221; Jesse said.
I woke in the morning after the claw fairy came. But instead of just one, she took them all just the same. I used to wear gloves, now I wear mittens, Of course, this happened way back when I was a kitten. Don’t feel bad for me, Jesse. There’s nothing I miss about getting stuck in a tree. The only thing I truly miss anymore is when I run to the door I can’t grip the floor.&8221;
&8220;But what did the claw fairy take them for?&8221;
&8220;That’s easy, Jesse. She planted them in the ground, you know. I think that’s where little kittens grow. I gave up my claws for a very good cause and it still feels good when Dan rubs my paws.&8221;
