Tiger girls get big win over Fairmont

FAIRMONT &045;&160;The Albert Lea girls’ golf team picked up a big win over Fairmont, 396-410, Tuesday.

&8220;This is the first time we have beaten them since I have been head coach,&8221; said Albert Lea’s Shawn Riebe. &8220;They are a team that has been to the state tournament seven or eight times in the last 15 years so it was nice to beat them by 14 strokes.&8221;

Kaeli Wayne was the medalist at the meet shooting a 95 while both Kelli Hanson and Mariah Howe each finished the day in the 90s shooting 97 and 99, respectively.

Ali Demmer rounded out the top four with a 105.

The Albert Lea junior varsity was also victorious, 197-277.

The boys’ team could not find the same success falling 346-355.

Alex Lair tied for medalist honors with a round of 83. Cody Anderson shot an 85, Tyler Brackey added a 92 and Jared Bowman carded a 93.

The Albert Lea junior varsity did pick up the win 375-418 with Mike Larson leading the way with an 86.
