FARIBAULT &045;&160;The Albert Lea girls’ track and field team finished ninth at the True Team competition in Faribault, Wednesday.

Lakeville North took the top spot followed by Owatonna and Lakeville South.

Alex Ciota was part of three of the Tigers’ highest finishers at the meet. She placed fifth in the 400 and was a member of two relays that finished in the top six.

The 4×400 team of Brittni Lair, Annika Smed, Lacey Williamson and Ciota took fifth while the 4×200 squad of Lair, Cara Thorn, Williamson and Ciota was sixth.

Anna Sigurdson was sixth in the high jump while Smed took ninth. Smed would also finish 16th in the 300 hurdle event.

Kendra Olchefske placed sixth in the discus while Lair was 13th in the 200. Molly Sutton and Thorn took 14th and 15th, respectively, in the 800.

Thirty individuals placed in each event.

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday when they host Faribault and Winona.
