Tigers take second in triangular

OWATONNA &045;&160;A tough course, difficult greens and a little wind combined to make it a difficult day for the Albert Lea girls’ golf team at the Owatonna Country Club.

The Tigers shot a 412 to finish as the runner-up to the host Huskies who had a 408 to win.

Mankato West was third with a 438.

Kaeli Wayne and Kelli Hanson led Albert Lea with matching rounds of 98. April Heilmann added 107 and Abby Leach completed the top for with 109.

Ali Demmer and Alli Arnold rounded out the Tiger varsity with 112 and 113, respectively.

&8220;It is a tough course and putting was a real problem where we had several three and four putts,&8221; said Tiger head coach Shawn Riebe. &8220;It is still the same thing with us. We have two scores under 100 but we can’t get two more. It is something we need to fix quick with conference and sections coming up.&8221;

The Tiger junior varsity picked up the win shooting a 226. Owatonna was second with a 235 and West had a 296.

Brooke Woitas and Taylor Nelson led the way with a 54.

The Tigers are back in action Thursday when they host Rochester Mayo at Green Lea Golf Course.
