The funeral service for Wilbert &8220;Bill&8221; Harvey Pagel will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel and one hour before the service at the chapel. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea veterans organizations.
Bill died on Monday, May 1, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. He was 83 years old.
Bill was born in Brisbane, N.D., on July 9, 1922, the son of Richard and Ida (Miller) Pagel. He attended high school in Brisbane, N.D. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-46. He grew up in North Dakota and later had lived in Duluth and in Albert Lea since the 1950s.
On Dec. 3, 1977, Bill was united in marriage with Lucille Hautt Harkner at Our Saviors Lutheran
Church, Albert Lea.
Bill had worked as a truck driver for Wilson & Co. for many years and part time for area farmers and had torn down houses. He was a member of the Eagles, VFW and American Legion and was a member of the honor guard. He enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, camping, old time dancing and he was an avid Twins fan.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lucille of Albert Lea; 11 children: Jerry Pagel, Judy Ozturk, Richard Pagel, Nancy Sather, David Pagel, Timothy Pagel, John Pagel, Mark Pagel, Doug Pagel, Mary Stevens, Sandy Holms; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; six step children: Deanne (Steve) Adams, Kathy Sickels, Richard (Bonnie) Harkner, Robert (Sheleen) Harkner, Cindy (Mark) Miranda, Michael Harkner; and many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Susan; one brother, Clarence Pagel; step sister; step son-in-law, Ray Sickels; step grandson, Dale Sickels.
