MANKATO &045; The Glenville-Emmons softball team split its first sub-section games Tuesday afternoon at Mankato.

The first game pitted the fourth-seeded Wolverines against Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in a game they won 8-3.

Lindsey Lorenzen went the distance on the mound and hit a home run in the fourth inning.

She allowed three earned runs on six hits and a walk. At the plate Lorenzen was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Kylie Indrelie had a solid offensive game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Christy Rayman was the other Wolverine with two hits. Ashley Lau and Molly Kral singled in the game.

&8220;We were real aggressive,&8221; coach Lisa Ziebell said. &8220;We got key hits at key times and got the job done.&8221;

After eliminating the Bulldogs, the tournament became double-elimination, and G-E faced top-seeded Mankato Loyola.

The defensive play was outstanding, but the offense couldn’t muster any support for the underdogs as they fell 5-0.

&8220;The difference was their pitcher,&8221; coach Ziebell said. &8220;It took some time to adjust from JWP’s pitcher, and it took too long.&8221;

Lorenzen started and went three innings, allowing five runs &045; four earned &045; in three innings of work. She struck out one and walked two.

Jordan Claussen entered in the fourth and allowed one earned run in the final three innings. She also gave up an unearned run while striking out one and walking one.

&8220;Claussen did a great job,&8221; coach Ziebell said.

Lorenzen, Claussen, Ziebell and Danielle Cooper had the Wolverines’ hits.

G-E plays at Mankato’s Caswell park on Saturday at 10 a.m. against an opponent to be determined. A loss would eliminate the 10-9 Wolverines.
