Editorial: Activities were a sight to see

Isn’t it nice to see so many people exercising in Albert Lea? You see it every evening on the sidewalks around Fountain Lake, but this past weekend the display of fitness was even greater.
People were waterskiing on Fountain Lake, canoeing on Albert Lea Lake and fishing the channel between the two lakes. People were walking, strolling, jogging, running and cycling around Albert Lea. People swam in Fountain Lake in many places.
And when they weren’t doing that, they were watching classic cars or marching bands parade through the city. They were listening to music from the marching bands or they were listening to music from rock ‘n’ roll bands.
All in all, it was a good time.
It just goes to show you. If you build it, they will come. All the activity wouldn’t have been possible without the forethought of leaders and infrastructure: the sidewalks, the bike trails, the public waterfronts and so forth.
We are appreciative of all the activities we enjoy here in Albert Lea. We look forward to having more to pass on to our children.
