Herman Lloyd Johnson, 79, of Rake, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea,

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake with the Rev. Larry Rehlander. Interment will be at Fast Cemetery in Rake.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service on Monday.

Herman Lloyd Johnson was born on July 14, 1926, in Rake, Iowa, to Gustave and Susan (Ryg) Johnson. Herman was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake where he was a lifelong member and confirmed in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Herman attended the Iowa School for the Deaf.

Herman was the proud owner of a pool hall in Rake. He enjoyed helping his brothers farm. In addition, he had a green thumb and enjoyed his flowers, Herman also enjoyed watching sports. He was particularly fond of the Minnesota Twins and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by his brothers, Sidney Johnson

and Alanzo (Betty) Johnson, both of Albert Lea; his sister Alta Erdahl of Bricelyn; a sister-in-law Jackie Pith of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his nephews and nieces: Larry (Lois) Johnson of Rake, Iowa, Paul Johnson of Shakopee, Steve (Becky) Johnson of Albert Lea, Randy (Karen) Erdahl of Chaska, Kevin (Jean) Erdahl of Minneapolis, Susan (Douglas) Davis of Lake City, Brian (Karen) Erdahl of Gibsonia, Pa., Allan (Margaret) Erdahl of Imperial Beach, Calif., and Shari Erdahl and Chris Mazurek of Eden Prairie; and numerous great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Irvin, Russell and Odin; his brother-in-law Sidney Erdahl; his sister-in-law Lillian Johnson; and his nephew Craig Erdahl.

Winter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buffalo Center, Iowa, is assisting the family.
