Joan M. Gimberline, age 59, of Wells, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial
service will be held Monday, June 19, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with visitation at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. with a VFW service at 3 p.m. and parish prayer service at 4 p.m. and continues one hour before the service at the church with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate.
Joan was born on April 23, 1947, in Freeborn County, the daughter of William and Antonia &8220;Toni&8221; (Ignaszewski) Gimberline. She attended St. Casimir Parochial School and Wells-Easton High School, graduating in 1966. She attended airline school and worked at Telex for 36 years. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and a life member of the Wells VFW Auxiliary.
Joan was a mother to her nieces and nephews and enjoyed taking long walks and harassing the neighbors. She loved her Chevy car, went on bus tours, enjoyed reading, and loved to listen to Elvis music, watch the Vikings, and go out to eat with friends. She collected music boxes, Elvis and Viking keepsakes.
She is survived by her mother Toni Gimberline of Wells; one sister, Joyce Lake of Faribault; and one brother Jim Gimberline (special friend Tracey) of Wells; two nephews, Adam (wife Heidi) Gimberline of Wells, and Nicholas (wife Jeri) Lake of Owatonna; two nieces: Georgette Lake of Eden Prairie and Melissa Otis of Wells. There are also three great-nephews: Billy and Carter Gimberline and Dominic Otis, all of Wells; one uncle Bernard (wife Eleanor) Ignaszewski of Albert Lea; six aunts: Irene (husband Laurence) Supalla of New Richland, Marian (husband Mitt) Mithun of Deer River, Martha Ignaszewski of Freeborn, Mary Ignaszewski of New Richland, Jan Ignaszewski of Mapleton and Berdine Drager of Wells; special friends: Diane Burns, Sandy Mossier, Kathy Ayers and Krissa Isaacs of Wells, and Kennen Isaacs of Deer River; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; her brother-in-law, Don Lake; her grandparents; and four uncles: Philip, Florian and Jerome Ignaszewski and Wilbert Drager.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice.
