Magdlena Adams, 106, Austin

Magdlena H. &8220;Lena&8221; Adams, age 106, of Austin, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Lena was born March 22, 1900, in Rose Creek, to Phillip and Emma (Frein) Fink. On Oct. 10, 1923 she was united in marriage to John W. &8220;Bill&8221; Adams in Rose Creek. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1974. After their marriage, they moved to Austin where both worked for Hormel Foods. Their only child, LaVerne was born in 1927.&160;

Lena retired from Hormel Foods in 1965 after 42 years. She was a charter member of the Hormel Credit Union where she served 32 years on the board. She was also a charter member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Lena loved gardening and always had a large vegetable garden and many flowers in her back yard.

She moved to Our House Assisted Living on Jan. 21, 2000, where she lived until Sept. 10, 2003, when she moved to Our House Memory Care.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law: Shirley Adams, Austin; eight grandchildren, Donald (Ramona) Adams of Minnetonka, Diane Aaby of Blooming Prairie, Debbie (Keith) Snyder of Austin, Darlene Edge of Burnsville, Donna (Doug) Loverink of Albert Lea, David (Debbie) Adams of Austin, Denise (Bob) Heimermann of Golden Valley, Danette (John) Nemitz of Austin.; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, two sisters: Mary Jackson and Anna Loecher, two brothers: John and Frank Fink.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and also from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
