ST. PAUL &045;&160;Like all good teams the USC/AC girls’ track squad raised its performance when it mattered most.

The Rebels scored 28 second-day points at the Minnesota State Track and Field Meet to finish in a tie for ninth place.

&8220;In view of the conditions, the performances turned in by our kids were

tremendous,&8221; said USC/AC head coach Kent Viesselman. &8220;For a team to medal in five events at the state meet is quite a performance.&8221;

Freshman Ciara Christenson led the way finishing as the runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.73. She finished behind Kasson- Mantorville senior Megan Rasmussen, who ran a 44.84, for the second straight day but had more than a second on the rest of the field.

Senior Becca Bryson also had an impressive second day rebounding from a sub-par long jump effort to finish third in the triple jump. Bryson jumped 36-feet, 3 1/2 inches to finish tied for second but took third on criteria. The winning jump was turned in by Laura Pace of Pillager at 37-8 1/4.

The Rebels 4×200 relay team of Bryson, Andrea Allis, Rebecca Leland and Christenson finished fourth putting up a time of 1:48.66. The same four runners would finish eighth in the 4×400 with a 4:07.08.

Leland would also score team points in the 800 where she ran a 2:23.94 to place eighth.

The top 10 showing concluded a dominating season for the Rebels where they won nearly every meet they entered including the section meet.

The Blake School took the Class A team title with 52 points.
