&8220;The back is much more difficult but he played really great,&8221; said USC head coach Randy Halvorson. &8220;He rolled in some birdies on some difficult holes and drove the ball exceptionally well.

&8220;This was his last opportunity to play well and he decided that he was not going to hold back.&8221;

Pederson consistently outdrove his opponents on the holes which allowed him to record three birdies on the day.

Pederson fared well despite tougher hole placement to improve more than 25 spots after the first day.

Taylor Cavanagh of Perham was the individual state medalist with a 144.

The Rebel girls’ squad completed the tournament by finishing seventh in the eight-team field fulfilling the goal of beating at least one other squad.

USC shot a 373 to improve its team total by 12 strokes over day one and finished with a two-day total of 758.

&8220;I was very happy with their play,&8221; said Halvorson. &8220;They secured their position and did not drop.&8221;
