Colonels hit hard by the Blues

The Albert Lea Colonels knew they would have to play well to stay with the 24-5 Rochester Blues Wednesday night. Unfortunately six errors made that task impossible in a 15-1 seven inning loss.

Rochester rapped out 17 hits while the Colonels collected six in the game.

The Colonels would tie the game at 1-1 after the first inning as Matt Trygstad drew a walk and advanced to third on a Zac Oquist double before scoring on a Derek Goodnature sacrifice fly.

However, that is all the offense Albert Lea would muster as six different players accounted for its hits.

Alex Hansen took the loss for the Colones, giving up 12 runs in four innings, but only five of those were earned.

He also struck out two and walked three.

&8220;They really took advantage of our errors in the second, third and fourth innings,&8221; said head coach Bill Trygstad. &8220;For whatever reason we weren’t ready to go.&8221;
