The Albert Lea Colonels split a doubleheader with Slater, Iowa Saturday. Albert Lea lost the first game 7-5 but rebounded to take the finale 3-2.

Albert Lea went into the bottom of the seventh with the game tied at 2 in the nightcap when Travis Klatt got things started with a two-out single. He moved to second on a wild pitch and scored the winning run when the centerfielder misplayed a fly ball.

&8220;It was nice to get a break,&8221; said Colonels head coach Bill Trygstad.

Klatt had a solid day collecting five hits in the two games.

Joel Eisenbraun pitched all seven innings not allowing a hit over the final four

while striking out three and walking two.

Errors hurt the Colonels in the opening game as they committed seven in the game.

Klatt and Nick Bunz tried to help Albert Lea make the comeback accounting for five of the team’s nine hits, but they could not dig out of an early four-run hole.

The Colonels are back in action Wednesday when they host Austin at 7:30 p.m.
