The memorial service for Dennis Michael VanderWoude, of Albert Lea, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday July 5, 2006, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea.
Dennis died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. He was 53.
Dennis was born Sept. 18, 1952, in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Frank and Dora (Patterson) VanderWoude. He grew up in Michigan and attended Kelloggsvile High School, Wyoming, Mich. Dennis was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and Chicago. He was a strong advocate for the United States Military Service and will be buried with military honors. He moved to the Albert Lea area in 1974. Dennis worked for the National Guard Armory, Viracon in Owatonna and ACT in Northwood, Iowa. Dennis was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, baseball and football.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Michelle Karnes and her husband Michael of Austin; three grandchildren:
Christian, Courtney and Collin; father: Frank VanderWoude of Kentwood, Mich.; sisters: Terry VanderWoude of Albert Lea;
Marica VanderWoude, Sharon Park; brother: Scott VanderWoude of Wyoming, Mich.; special friend: Helen Peres and her children.
Dennis was preceded in death by his son: Cory VanderWoude, mother: Dora VanderWoude, stepmother: Agnes VanderWoude; brother: Franklin VanderWoude; nephews: Dakota Talamantes and Steven Park.
