Do you at times lack the energy you need? Do your muscles feel week? Are your reflexes slow?

Often, the solution people seek is a pick-me up, such as coffee or pop or any drink with sugar or caffeine. The better solution is eating right before you become weary. Perhaps the real problem is you aren’t getting enough potassium.

Potassium is especially important if you’re a growing child or an adult looking to maintain or improve your muscles. The body uses the mineral to help muscle growth and maintain the function of cells and tissues in muscles.

Potassium supplements aren’t recommended without consent from a doctor. The best way to get the mineral is from leafy green vegetables, broccoli, peas, potatoes, tomatoes, citrus fruits, apples, bananas and apricots. Potassium is found in fish such as salmon, cod, flounder and sardines.

It befuddles us how people are attracted to diet fads. First America was worried about calories, then it was fat and now it is carbs. The real secret to eating is proper nutrition, which is really no secret but it doesn’t sell books.

Mom was right. She told you, &8220;Eat your vegetables if you want to become big and strong.&8221; As adults, you should eat them to stay strong.
