Gladys Hendrickson, 95

The funeral service for Gladys L. Hendrickson, of St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in Hayward Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at St. John’s.

Gladys died on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 95.

She was born on Aug. 11, 1910, in Eagle Bend, the daughter of Hans and Betsy (Esse) Knudson.

Gladys grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. She obtained her R.N. degree in nursing from Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Gladys was head nurse at the Sister Kinney Rehab Institute for more than 20 years.

Gladys married William Knights of Minneapolis on Nov. 11, 1934. William died in 1974. She married Monroe Hendrickson also of Minneapolis in 1975. He preceded her in death in 1986. Gladys played cards, traveled, and especially enjoyed her nursing career.

Gladys is survived by sister-in-law Gloria Krzystofiak of Buffalo, N.Y., nephew Jack and wife Lib Knudson of Ariz., great-nieces Kathy Schunk of Rochester, Gwen Jones of California, great-nephews: Richard Pederson of Minneapolis Gary Pederson of Colorado, and their families, and many close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: William Knights and Monroe Hendrickson, brothers and sisters: Clara Carlson, Esther McNeil, Ronald Knudson, Carlyle Knudson, Blanche Anderson, Ruth Johnson,

Bernice Knudson and Ernest Knudson.
