Funeral services for Jaynee C. (Broskoff) Wilkins, age 56, of Mundelein, Ill., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in the East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Glencoe Union Church, 263 Park Ave., Glencoe, Ill., Aug. 4, 2006, at 4 p.m.

Jaynee passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006, from cancer at her home in Mundelein, Ill.

Jaynee Carolyn Wilkins was born Jan. 28, 1950, to Aleck and Harriet (Thompson) Broskoff in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1968, where she participated in many clubs and organizations. Jaynee was also active in church and 4-H and was the Freeborn County Dairy Princess in 1968. She was a member of a singing group call &8220;The Things To Come,&8221; later named &8220;The New Tradition.&8221;

After winning a nationwide talent search, the group recorded for Capitol Records &8220;Leavin’ on a Jet Plane&8221; and &8220;Just Can’t Help Believin’.&8221;

Lea College offered each group member a scholarship to attend and it was there that Jaynee met her husband, Howard, who she married in 1970. Most of their married life was spent in Glencoe, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, although recently they lived in Mundelein, Ill. Howard and Jaynee have two sons, Justis Alexander Wilkins and Julian Phillip Wilkins (J.P.). Jaynee worked at Rust-Oleum Paints for six years and then became Parish Administrator of Glencoe Union Church for the next 18 years.

She was a member of the Glencoe Union Church and sang in the Chancel Choir. Jaynee had served as President of the Glencoe Human Relations Committee. The couple spent four years in the Cleveland area, where Jaynee was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Lakewood Historical Society and President of the New Westsiders.

Survivors include her husband, Howard; their sons, Justis and his wife, Aude of Mundelein, Ill., and Julian of Lakewood, Ohio; granddaughters, Chloe and Marley Wilkins; her mother, Harriet Broskoff of Albert Lea; sisters, Judy and her husband, Larry Olson of rural Albert Lea and Julie and her husband, Steve Jerdee of rural Hayward; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Jaynee was preceded in death by her father, Aleck Broskoff, and her grandparents.
