Funeral services for JoAnn A. Nelson, of Albert Lea, will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

JoAnn Ardella Nelson, age 80, of Albert Lea, died at Seasons Hospice in Rochester on July 28, 2006. JoAnn was born on Jan. 18, 1926, to Henry Dahl and Inga (Flattum) Dahl in rural Emmons. She attended Albert Lea Public Schools and was confirmed at First Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. In Albert Lea, JoAnn was employed by Hotel Albert, Land O’ Lakes, and Wilsons. She married Jens Nelson in Hayward, on Oct. 5, 1946, and they made their home in Albert Lea. JoAnn was involved in church service groups, enjoyed country music, dancing, and children – especially her grandson.

Survivors include her daughter and grandson, Shirley Nelson and Kristoffer Jens of Rochester, Minn.; sisters Ilene Blowers of Albert Lea and Donna Siblerud of Hartland, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.&160;

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jens Nelson; infant daughter, Julie; siblings: Phyllis, Kathleen, Orva, and Noreen.

The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
