Memorial services for Marlyn M. Mostrom, age 70, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Aldrich will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Marlyn died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Marlyn Melvin Mostrom was born Feb. 4, 1936, to Melvin and Estella (Christensen) Mostrom in Kensett, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church in Kensett and graduated from Hanlontown High School. On Sept. 5, 1954, Marlyn was united in marriage to Edna Ann Dietrich at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, Iowa. He had been employed at the Freeborn County Co-op Oil Co. for 42 years, retiring as General Manager in 1997. Marlyn was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Board of Directors for Waterloo Service Co. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, watching the &8220;Twins,&8221; and especially being a part of his grandchildren’s lives.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of Albert Lea; children: Michael and wife, Jo of Ames, Iowa, Kathleen Lehman of Albert Lea; M. Scott and wife, Robyn of Walled Lake, Mich., Jeffrey and wife, Tammy of Appleton, Wis., and Sarah and husband, Gordon Vietze of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Aaron and Levi Mostrom of Ames, Iowa, Christopher and wife, Sarah Lehman of Hugo, Minn., Shannon Lehman of Eagan, Minn., Evelyn and Emil Mostrom of Appleton, Wis., and Matthew and Jacob Vietze of Albert Lea; sister, Ardis Ellwood of Forest City, Iowa; aunt, Wava Christensen of Mason City, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; mother-in-law, Evelyn Dietrich; and granddaughter, Leah Mostrom.
