Tigers victorious at Luther Camp

DECORAH, Iowa &045; The Albert Lea High School wrestling team, under the direction of coaches Larry Goodnature and Neal Skaar, placed first out of 20 teams at the 2006 Luther College Team Wrestling Camp held July 5 through 8 in Decorah, Iowa.

Over 300 high school athletes from four states attended the camp that was directed by Luther head wrestling coach Dave Mitchell. Clinicians at the camp included University of Iowa assistant coach and two-time NCAA champion Tim Hartung, University of Minnesota All-American and four-time Iowa high school state champion Mack Reiter and the Luther College coaching staff.

Campers participated in team building activities, intensive &8220;Train Like a Norseman&8221; sessions, technique sessions and live wrestling sessions. The camp closed with an individual tournament on Saturday morning.

Matt Pyle, current Luther wrestler, served as Albert Lea &8220;Camp Coach&8221; and provided wrestlers with verbal and written feedback. Albert Lea wrestlers Logan Hansen and Bradon Reyerson were recognized as Wrestlers of the Day at the 2006 camp.

Luther wrestling has experienced great success in recent years, placing fourth at the NCAA Division III Championships last year and third the two previous years. Last season, Luther crowned one national champion and four All-Americans against strong competiton in the Iowa Conference.
