Winnebago County Fair starts in Thompson, Iowa

THOMPSON, Iowa &045; The Winnebago County Fair in Thompson, Iowa kicks off today with five days of festival activities slated.

The fair started at a steady pace at 6 a.m. today with livestock exhibits and 4-H and FFA activities. The queen coronation will take place at 8 p.m.

The fair speeds up Friday with mechanical bullrides, a rodeo in the evening and more 4-H and FFA exhibits and judging.

Saturday’s main events include a demolition derby, pedal pull and a battle of the bands while Sunday features the parade, train rides, watermelon feed and a barnyard rodeo.

Here is a full listing of events at the Winnebago County Fair:

Thursday

– 6 a.m. – noon Livestock exhibits in place

– 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Entry of 4-H gardening exhibits

– 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Judging 4-H exhibits

– 12:30 p.m. Judging of 4-H gardening exhibits

– 1 p.m. Old school house open

– 4:30 p.m. 4-H and FFA horse show

– 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Entry open flower show items

– 8 p.m. Queen coronation

Friday

– 9:30 a.m. Pen of three beef judging

– 10 a.m. 4-H and FFA beef/dairy show

– 1 p.m. 4-H and FFA livestock judging contest

– 1 p.m. Country school house spelling bee

– 3:30 p.m. 4-H and FFA sheep show

– Noon – 11 p.m. Mechanical bull rides

– 6 p.m. Bucket/bottle calf show

– 7 p.m. Mutton bustin’

– 7 p.m. Share the fun acts

– 7:30 p.m. Fashion review

– 8 p.m. T&C Rodeo

Saturday

– 8 a.m. 4-H and FFA swine show

– 11 a.m. Country school house open
