The U-17C-2 girls’ soccer team hosted a short handed Woodbury team on June 26, and sent them home with a 5-0 defeat.
Midway through the first half the locals began the scoring with Nicole Ball connecting on a pass from Sophie Miller.
Miller then netted her own goal off a throw in by Kendra Olchefske.
Brittni Lair started off the second half scoring with Connor Peterson assisting.
Amanda Arends then struck a long ball in the upper corner to tally an unassisted goal.
The host team finished up the scoring with defender Samantha Overgaard sailing a 30-yard shot over the Woodbury keeper’s head.
The goal was assisted by Miller.
The team then traveled to Winona on June 28.
Albert Lea came home with a 2-0 victory, upholding its unbeaten status.
A different midfield combination of Leah Walters and Sophie Miller worked together to net both goals as each also recorded an assist.
A strong defense helped keep Winona off balance as Maddi Passingham, playing up from the U-17C-3 team, kept the shots out of the goal.
The team improved its record to 3-0-3.
