Beverly Malepsy, 72, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Beverly &8220;Bev&8221; Malepsy of Albert Lea will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 21 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea.

Father Tim Hall and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church.

Bev died very unexpectedly but peacefully Thursday, August 17, 2006 at her home in Albert Lea.

She was 72 years of age.

Bev was born August 7, 1934 in Hope, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche (Pike) Springborg. After the age of ten, she was raised by Gerhard (Gay) Ofstedal and her mother Blanche. Bev graduated from Albert Lea High School with honors in 1952 and was a queen of Jobs Daughters. On July 4, 1953 Bev was united in the sacrament of marriage to Robert Malepsy at St Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. She was an active and faithful member of St Theodore Catholic Church and was active in the CCW and Eucharistic Ministry.

In 1953 she went to work in the office at Wilson and Co. She began working at Boyd and Jacks in 1973 where she shared her artistic talents decorating cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other special events. She later worked for Hy-Vee and currently in the office at Nelson’s Foods.

Bev was active in the Wa-tan-ye Service Club where she held many offices. She was also a member of the Elks Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to read books, several per week. She was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed bird watching, knitting, sewing, shopping, her card club, and &8220;coffee with the girls.&8221; She was an 18 year breast cancer survivor. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren.

Bev is survived by her children: Stan and his wife Brenda Malepsy and their children, Brittany and Cody of Albert Lea, Chuck and his wife JoAnn Malepsy and their children, Tony and Jessica of Albert Lea, Ann and her husband Mike Tubbs and their children, Katie and Evan of Eagan; brother, Robert Springborg and wife, Mona of Albert Lea, Ken and wife Bucky Ofstedal of Albert Lea, Larry and wife Marilyn Ofstedal of Hudson, Wis., sisters; Lynette Crump of Branson, Miss., Donna Johnson of Dix, Ill. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Malepsy in 2004 and nephew Jason Crump.

Bev was an amazingly giving, caring and compassionate Christian woman who led her life by example. All who knew her were truly blessed. She will be deeply missed.
