&8220;We believe that it’s possibly some type of air rifle or BB gun being used, and it appears to be random vandalism.&8221;

The first report of damage came at 1 a.m. Monday, so at least some of the breakage happened before then. Nothing was reported stolen from any of the vehicles.

Vans and cars have had their windows broken.

No specific area of the city has been targeted by the vandals but only cars parked on Albert Lea city streets have had their windows smashed. Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said the suspect may be moving through town in a car or on a motorcycle.

No pellets from a gun have been found, but some of the marks in windows led officers to believe a BB gun or air rifle was being used in the window-breaking spree.

Another vehicle &045; a pickup in a driveway &045; was reported to police at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to have a broken sliding rear window. Police said the damage happened Sunday night but was discovered later.

Police have no suspects, but encourage anyone with information on the crime to contact the Law Enforcement Center at 377-5205.
