Gardner &8220;Bud&8221; Homer Louden, age 86, died Aug. 27, 2006, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Gardner was born July 22, 1920, the son of Homer and Olga (Rushfeldt) Louden in Freeborn County. Bud farmed all of his life and his love in life was his horses. He drove the horses to town to get supplies and also drove the horses in parades. He had a special way of training and handling horses. When his friends needed help in training horses, he was there for them. He would go to Waverly, Iowa to the horse auctions, very seldom buying, but enjoyed being there. He was a great gardener, raising huge vegetables and surprised everyone with his cooking skills. One potato and one carrot could feed several people.

Gardner is survived by two sisters, Priscilla (Leland) Larson, Austin; Betty (John) Bye, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Lienwood Louden, Wausau, Wis.; Richard (Karen) Louden, Apple Valley, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
