Harold Boetel, 75, Emmons

Harold L. Boetel, age 75, of 433 Pearl St., Emmons, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006, at home. Visitation will be at Emmons Lutheran Church from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. The m emorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Emmons Lutheran Church, with military honors immediately following at Gateway Park in Emmons.

Harold was born in Hartley, Iowa, to Christian and Delma (McClintic) Boetel. He graduated from Hartley High School in 1949. He worked through high school at the E.U. Thomas Drug Store. He worked for Hunting Elevator in Everly and Hartley, Iowa, for 12 and a half years. Then he worked for Thermogas at the Des Moines home office for eight years, before driving for Pulley Freightlines, and later for Firestone, making over 30 years on the road.

Harold served in the Army during the Korean War. He served as commander for two terms at the Emmons, Minnesota Legion, Post 317.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda McChristy-Boetel, three daughters, Lori (Al) Groth, of Alta, Iowa, Kim (Michael) Reese of Des Moines, Iowa, Karla V. Boetel of Ames, Iowa, and one son, Scott Boetel, and one step-son Doug (Karin) McChristy of New Brighton, Minn., and three grandchildren, Liz, Brooke and Becky Francis and one step-grandson, Keith McChristy, and one brother, Dale (Larie) Boetel, two brother-in-laws Lenny (Sally) Leib and Brian (Robin) Leib, and two sister-in-laws Jeannie Naab (Glen) and Patti Jo Leib, all of Dubuque, Iowa.

Preceding Harold in death was his brother Francis and his daughter Diana Lynn Boetel.
