Helen Yokiel, 94, Wells

Helen A. Yokiel, age 94, of Wells, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center, surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with visitation on Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, with a Rosary at 9:15 a.m. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells, Minn.

Helen A. Yokiel was born May 25, 1912, in rural Minnesota Lake, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Caroline (Osdoba) Sonnek. Helen married Clement Ambrose Yokiel on Oct. 20, 1936, in Minnesota Lake, Minn. She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, Minn. Helen enjoyed flowers and reading.

and wife Sally Yokiel, all of Wells, Minn., Mary and husband Gerry Shultz of Richmond, Va., Ann and husband Pat McNabb of Big Rapids, Mich., Rita and husband Charles Graveley of Avon, Mont.; daughter-in-law: Leona Yokiel of Wells, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; one sister: Ann Fischer of Hopkins, Minn.; one brother: Peter and wife Jean Sonnek of Wells, Minn.; several brothers and sisters-in-law; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clem in 2002; son George in 2003, 11 brothers: Dominic, Herb, Matthew, David, Albert, Robert, Francis, Norbert and Eugene Sonnek; two brothers in infancy and three sisters: Martha Bach, Magdalena Volz and Dorothy Neubauer.
