Janice Knutson, age 64, of rural Alden, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Janice Marie Knutson was born March 29, 1942, the daughter of Ira and Everald (Rathai) Sailor in Faribault County. She married Alvin Knutson Nov. 23, 1960, in Albert Lea. Janice was a stay-at-home mom for several years and worked at Scotsman Ice Machines for 12 years. Most recently she assisted with Conger Inn and Catering before retiring in 2003. Janice was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, participated in Circle, and taught Vacation Bible School. Janice had many hobbies including: flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching, playing cards, and cross-stitch. She loved the outdoors, taking walks, riding 4-wheeler, and going to garage sales with friends. She enjoyed coffee parties, Denim Days and Crystal Collectibles. She especially enjoyed caring for her grandkids. Her family will agree that her chocolate brownies were the &8220;absolute best!&8221; Her will to live, courageous spirit, and fabulous sense of humor will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Alvin Knutson of Alden; five children: Vicky Barber and fianc/ David Olson of Clear Lake, Wis., Lori and husband Brett Crumb of Hartland, Timothy and wife Mary Knutson of Albert Lea, Troy and wife Kimberly Knutson of Alden and Joel and wife Nikki Knutson of Alden; her mother, Everald Sailor of Minnesota Lake; 11 grandchildren: Jessica Fulton; Valerie, and husband Steven Nelson, Jackie, Matthew and Jason Crumb; Jordan, Jonah, and Hannah Knutson; Hayley, Megan, and Kasey Knutson; one brother: LaVern and wife Trish Sailor of St. Louis, Mo.;

one sister, Marilyn and husband LeRoy Stenzel of Waldorf; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Sailor;

one brother, Raymond; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Hattie (Winter) Knutson.
