Kathryn J. Kalis, age 93, of Wells, Minn., died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church, and a Rosary starting at 9:15 a.m. at the Church. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells, Minn.

Kathryn Johanna Kalis was born Nov. 24, 1912, the daughter of Nicholas and Agnes (Dulas) Kalis on the family farm in Walnut Lake Township, Faribault County, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Casimir Catholic Church where she was a lifelong member. Kathryn was the second oldest in the family. She attended rural school district 23 in Faribault County. She worked for different people around Easton and Wells, and also worked at home, helping with gardening, sewing and farm work. In 1984, she moved into Wells with her sister.

Kathryn is survived by one sister: Bernice DeWeber of Benicia, Calif.; two brothers: Louis Kalis of Wells, Minn., Ray and his wife Lois Kalis of Wells, Minn.; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.
