No. 14 Bulldogs cruise in opener

The 14th-ranked Lake Mills volleyball team dominated Garner-Hayfield in its first action of the season winning 25-17, 25-8, 25-11.

The Bulldogs have just two returning letterwinners but got more comfortable as the game went on. Megan Pederson led the way with seven kills and Caitlin Moore added six kills and three blocks.

&8220;We started a little slow in game one, but with only two letterwinners I expected that,&8221; said Bulldogs head coach Jim Boehmer. &8220;Once we got ourselves under control we stepped it up and took control of the match.&8221;

Lake Mills held a slim 14-11 lead in the third game before new setter Courtney Kingland reeled of 11 straight points serving to secure the victory. Kingland finished the game with 18 assists and Ali Dugger had six aces.

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday at the Algona Tournament.
