William Bos, 86, Hollandale

Funeral services for William Bos, age 86, formerly of Hollandale will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Bill was born on June 28, 1920, in Haederwyk, Holland, to Martin and Niesjen (Jongetjes) Bos. He married Lillian DeBoer on June 1, 1950. Lillian died in 1992. Bill married Violet Jordahl on Dec. 31, 1994. He was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church.

Bill came to America at the age of 6. When he was 16 the family moved back to Holland. During World War II he served with the Dutch Underground until Holland was liberated, then he served in the Dutch Marines as a sergeant. Bill returned to America in 1948. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapshooting. He had a love for music especially singing. He farmed and was a salesman for Supersweet Feeds in Geneva. He retired in 1982.

Survivors include his wife Violet of Albert Lea, son William and his wife Suzette Bos of Austin, daughter Marsha and her husband Jay Neitzell of Albert Lea, four grandchildren Jill (Luke) Rye of Albert Lea, Angela (Tim) Feekes of Brookings, S.D., Grant Neitzell of Fridley, Sarah (Jeff) Becker of Ankeny, Iowa, step-daughter Darlene Jordahl of Excelsior, step-grandchildren Julie (Tony) Gilbertson of Chaska, and Brenda Rasmussen of Henderson, Nev.; step-great-granddaughter Raina Rasmusson; brother Peter (Diena) Bos, sisters Evelyn Blom, Trudy (Reint) Reyers, Martina (Ralph) Fiegen all of Ontario, Canada, and Berniece (Hank) Blom of Holland.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lillian, his brother Gerald, sister Nell, and brother-in-law Frank Blom.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
