The Lake Mills boys&8217; cross country team finished fifth out of 10 teams at the Belmond Klemme Invite.
Aaron Aamodt led the way for the Bulldogs with a 17th place finish in 20.42, while Jim Adams finished 23rd in a time of 21.03.
&8220;This was a lot different from the Newman course,&8221; Lake Mills head coach Mark VanGorkom said. &8220;It had more hills which made it a lot harder. We improve each week and are working harder than ever. I just love to see them running outside of practice.&8221;
Colten Peterson (31st), Mick Tiedman (33rd) and Ben Mathews (34th) all finished within 10 seconds of one another. Jack Olson rounded out the varsity with a 45th place finish.
The girls&8217; squad ran hard but didn&8217;t have enough runners to qualify as a team.
Kelly Renshaw finished 20th in 19:49, Becky Dahn was 22nd with a time of 19:59 and Kristen Holstad completed the course in 24th place with a time of 20:32.
&8220;The girls that ran ran very well,&8221; VanGorkom said. &8220;We still have a couple sick girls so when they are both healthy it will be nice to see how we can score as a team.&8221;
Lake Mills is back in action Monday when it will run at the Rockwell-Swaledale Invite.
