Century nets win

A talented Rochester Century team gave the Albert Lea girls&8217; tennis team more than it could handle Thursday night as they earned a 7-0 victory.
Dezeray Jacobs lost her match at No. 1 singles 0-6, 1-6 and Kelli Hanson would do no better at No. 2 with a 0-6, 0-6 loss.
Sarah Jensen lost 1-6, 1-6 at No. 3 and Sarah Wenum came up shot at No. 4 but did have a good showing in the second set 1-6, 4-6.
The Tigers&8217; top doubles team of Liz Thompson and Cara Thorn lost 0-6, 5-7, Niki and Hali Hendrickson were downed 4-6, 3-6 and Amanda Leonard and Chelsea Hill rounded out doubles action with a 4-6, 4-6 defeat.
&8220;Century is a very young and talented team,&8221; Albert Lea head coach Sean Gillam said. &8220;They don&8217;t have a senior on the team so they are going to be good for awhile.&8221;
The Tigers&8217; junior varsity did get the win by a count of 10-8.
Winning matches were Naomi Holt, Cori Madson, Dani MerfeldAlarie Maras, Holly Bohlen, Amelia Holcomb, Emily Troe, Kayla Hartmann, Samantha Petersen, Kaitlin Cope, Jenna Sager, Michelle Hartmann, Kelly Duncomb, Liz Winkels, Makala Buley, Samantha Petersen, Kellsie Dieser and Mikaela Pierson.
