Denise Marie Kubu, age 47, of Wells, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Albert Lea Medical Center, after battling with cancer since March of 2000. Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with visitation on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service on Thursday. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Burial will be in St. Casimir Cemetery in Wells.

Denise Marie Kubu was born Jan. 20, 1959, the daughter of Robert &8220;Johnie&8221; and Marvel (Schultz) Kubu in Wells. Denise held various jobs including being a waitress, laborer, factory worker, supervisor, office worker and finally an accountant. She met and enjoyed many friends along the way. She loved her children, yellow roses and butterflies.

Denise is survived by her children: Cody Kubu (18) and his special friend, Amanda, Kandi Kubu (15), and Kelsey Stepun (13), all of Wells; one sister, Mary Weeden of Murretta, Calif.; two brothers: Tim Kubu of Solway, Minn., and Tom Kubu and special friend Maxine of Murietta, Calif.; special cousin Trudy Stevens of Rapid City, S.D.; and many other cousins and a host of friends.

Those gone before her: father Robert &8220;Johnie&8221; Kubu in 1974, mother Marvel in 2005; two brothers: Mark Kubu in 1972, and Robert &8220;Bob&8221; Kubu in 1990, along with her grandparents.
