Frederick &8220;Fritz&8221; Weitzel, age 72, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Albert Lea and Maple Grove, died peacefully, Aug. 30, 2006, in Waconia, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Marion, children, John, Gerald, Susan and Tari and brother, Bill.

Frederick is survived by his wife Charmaine of 54 years; children, Jim, Steve (Jean), Cathy (Mark) Shakespeare, Janet (Gary) Albright, Dianne (Ken) Kemp; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; brother, Larry (Sandy); and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial service is Monday, 11 a.m. at St. Victoria Catholic Church, 8228 Victoria Drive, Victoria. A memorial gathering is Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bertas Funeral Home, prayer service, 5:30 p.m., 200 W. Third St., Chaska. There will be a private family inurnment.
