Mary Ann Klima, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Mary Ann Klima, of Albert Lea, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at First Lutheran Church Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Good Samaritan Society.
Mary Ann died Sept. 3, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Maplewood.
Mary Ann was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Minneapolis to Anton and Elsie (Lundquist) Murtinger. Mary Ann graduated from North High School class of 1933 in Minneapolis, and St. Cloud State Normal College in St. Cloud.
Mary Ann married Clements (Ray) Klima in 1940. They moved from Brooklyn Center to Albert Lea in 1961 when she and Clements bought into partnership in Bob&8217;s Lanes in south Albert Lea. Years later Bob&8217;s Lanes burned down.
She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active volunteer in First Lutheran Church and in her community, earning honors from Freeborn County Court Services, Laubach Literacy Action and Freeborn County Historical Society. She and Clements also opened their home to emergency foster care children.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Ione Jo Klima and husband Mark Pratt of St. Paul; son Duane C. Klima and wife Debra of Colorado Springs, Colo.; granddaughters Jessica Grofman (Neal) of Chicago, Ill., Sonya Geis of Los Angeles, Calif., Jennifer Talley (Jason) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joanne Harvey (Chris) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents and husband Clements (Ray) Klima.
