Memorial Services for May A. Blair will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9 at the First Lutheran Church. The Reverend Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
May died on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home. She was 98 years old.
May was born in Lake Mills, Iowa, on January 3, 1908, the daughter of Iver and Lena (Benson) Haugerud. She was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County.
May was baptized in 1908 and confirmed in the Silver Lake Lutheran Church in 1922. She married Jens Solland on January
23, 1930 in Silver Lake, Iowa. She later married Raymond F. Blair on August
7, 1967 in Austin.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she cooked and cleaned for others and did office cleaning. May loved to dance, crochet, wallpaper and remodel homes.
She loved to send flowers and plants to those she loved to let them know she was thinking of them.
She is survived by eight children: Donald Solland and his wife Gay of Loveland, Colo., Gloria Ann and her husband Ervin Johnson of Lake City, Jerome Solland and his wife Sharlene of Twin Lakes, Orin Solland and his wife Margaret of Emmons, Marvin Solland and his wife Virginia of Afton, Okla., Ralph Solland and his wife Pat of Albert Lea, Judean Solland and his wife Karolyn of Shevlin, Minn., and Mavis and her husband Bob Jacobs of Albert Lea; also surviving are more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The grandchildren will fondly remember all of the cookies that she made with love and hid so that she could make sure she shared with them all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Jens Solland and Raymond Blair, two great-grandchildren Alisha Lee and Rose Hallberg.
