Ruth Werner, 91, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Ruth Helen Werner of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev.

Curtis Zieske will officiate.

Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service at the church.

Ruth died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home.

She was 91 years old.

Ruth was born Nov. 25, 1914 in Freeborn County, to Iver and Julia (Olson) Hanson.

She has lived in Manchester, Hartland and Albert Lea.

Ruth married Selmer Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1961. She married Paul Werner in 1964.

He also preceded her in death.

Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as a telephone operator for the Manchester and Hartland Telephone Company and also worked at various places doing housekeeping. Ruth belonged to the Eagles and VFW Auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing the accordion since the age of 14, playing bingo, dancing, telling stories and watching the squirrels eat corn from their feeder.

Ruth is survived by her eight children:

Delores Loe and her husband Orien of Albert Lea, Darlene Hendrickson of Albert Lea, Merrill Johnson and his wife Gail of New Richland, Marlene Johansen and her husband Donald of Albert Lea, Steven (TB) Johnson and his wife Sandi of Albert Lea, Gilbert Johnson and his wife Mary of Albert Lea, Julie Telles of Albert Lea and Paul Johnson and his fianc/e Kimberly

of Phoenix, Ariz.;

29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister Ethel Peterson of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; four sons, Stanley, John, Dale and David; four brothers, Theodore, Harry, Gaylord and Iner; sister, Evelyn; and six half-brothers and sisters.

Ruth was so very proud of each of her children and their families.

She touched many lives during her 91 years and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
