Dominic Weigel, 83, Alvwood

Dominic Joseph Weigel, age 83, of Alvwood, Minn., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at his home in Alvwood.
He was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Christopher and Julia (Lenhart) Weigel. He moved to the Albert Lea area as a small boy and attended St. Theodore&8217;s Catholic School. He married Ruth Irene Beighley. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at Wilson&8217;s Meat Packing Plant for 32 years. He retired in 1978 and moved to Alvwood, Minn. He was a member of the American Legion Post 372 of Blackduck, and a member of St. Catherine&8217;s Catholic Church of Squaw Lake. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed anything that would get him outside in the great outdoors.
He is survived by his children, James (Beverly) Weigel of Cascade, Wis., Veronica (Ronald) Mourer of Blackduck, Mathew (Rebbecca Schultz) Weigel of Blackduck, and Julie (Steve Hazelton) Weigel of Blackduck; sisters, Marie Weigel-Peck of Waldorf and Katherine Weigel-Callahan of Braveville; and a brother, Francis Weigel of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Weigel; a son, Dominic Joseph Weigel II; five brothers, John, Paul, Sylvester, Adam and Joseph &8220;Jay&8221; Weigel; and a sister, Ann Weigel-Ludwig.
Arrangements are pending with Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck.
