Luella Peterson, 105, Emmons

Funeral services for Luella B. Peterson, age 105, formerly of Emmons, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Baldwin will officiate. Interment will be in the Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Luella died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home.

Luella Bertina Peterson was born Sept. 19, 1901, to Lewis H. and Bertha (Troe) Larson in Nunda Township. She was baptized and confirmed at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church and attended Country School District 105. Luella had worked at the Luther Academy in Albert Lea.

On May 18, 1930, she married Daniel A. Peterson at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church. Luella was an active member of the Ladies Aid and Circle at Sion Lutheran Church. She was also a long-time member of the Minnesota Mission Circle and WELCA at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, and a member of both the Twin Lakes and Emmons Senior Citizens. She spent many hours knitting and crocheting, making afghans, dishcloths, potholders, etc. and also liked playing cards and bingo.

Luella especially enjoyed visits with friends and family and was known for her lovely smile.

Survivors include her sons, Duane and wife, Betty Peterson of Emmons and Gene and wife, JoAnn Peterson of Northwood; daughters, Kitty and husband, Marlin Sandsmark of Albert Lea and Beverly Thrond of Kiester; grandchildren: Gary (Dawn) Sandsmark, Diane King, Bruce (Paty) Thrond, Paul Thrond, David (Julie) Thrond, Steven (Mary) Thrond, Randy (Tina) Thrond, Danny Peterson, Terry (Audrey) Peterson, Debra (Bruce) Madsen, Peggy (Steven) Labno, and Penny (James) Twedt; great-grandchildren: Chad, Curtis and Renae Sandsmark, Adam, Max, Bridget, Vanessa and Tina King, Brett and Charlie Peterson, Amy and Ryan Madsen, Elizabeth, Erin and Casey Thrond, Ashley and Lauren Thrond, and Emily, Betsy and Katie Twedt; great-great-grandson, Ayden Lynn Sandsmark; and many nieces and nephews.

Luella was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Lena Benson; husband, Daniel; granddaughter, Amy Jo Peterson; and brothers: Harry G., Harry A. (Agnes), George (Betsy) and Elmer (Enga) Larson.
