Marshall Larson, 87, Waseca

Marshall E. Larson, age 87, of Waseca, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born in Alexander, Iowa, on May 23, 1919, he was the son of James and Marie (Johansen) Larsen.

He attended school in rural Waseca County before graduating from Waseca High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1941 until his honorable discharge in December 1945. During his service he was stationed for 30 months in the South Pacific.

Marshall married Melba Molkenthin on Dec. 1, 1946, at St. Peter&8217;s Lutheran Church in New Richland. Together they farmed from 1946 to 1976 in Waseca County near New Richland. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards. He was a member of St. John&8217;s Lutheran Church in Waseca and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion in Waseca.

He is survived by three children, Lynden Larson of Waseca, Kenton (Debra) Larson of Alden, and Gerdane (Roger) Witts of Pemberton; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Alvena (Ernest) Kramer of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Donna Larsen of Detroit Lakes, Darlene (Julius) Johnson of Duluth; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Offer Offersen, three brothers Harvey Larson, Willard Larsen, and Herluf Offersen, one sister Dora Wobschall, one grandson Andrew Larson, and one granddaughter Sarah Larson.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with the Rev. Vicki R. Hultine officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
