Nancy Ellertson, 85, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Nancy Lee Ellertson of 801 Luther Place, Albert Lea, will be 1 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Nancy died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at St. John&8217;s Lutheran Home. She was 85 years old.

Nancy was born May 14, 1921, in Irwin, Iowa, to Estel Albert and Vida Gilberta (Jensen) Shipp. She grew up in rural Iowa and graduated from Rockwell City High School. She came to Albert Lea in 1950. Nancy was a 50 year member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was very active in the church and other Christian community activities. She was a volunteer, teacher, mentor and caregiver for many within her family, church and community groups. Nancy was a 50 year member of P.E.O. Chapter CV. Nancy especially enjoyed her family. She was proud of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nancy enjoyed traveling, sports and was an avid fan of local high school sports, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Twins and Vikings. She enjoyed her home by creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for her many friends and family.

Nancy was married to Leonard M. &8220;Doc&8221; Ellertson and together they had six children who survive: Dee Booton and her husband Jeff of Mancos, Colo., Pam Meyer of St. Paul, Lyn Twining and her husband Ken of Oakland, Calif., Lorin Ellertson and his wife Arloa of Pequot Lakes, Paula Warren and her husband Scott of Mason City, Iowa, and Kirk Ellertson and his wife Sharon of Vadnais Heights; grandchildren: Jeffrey McElwain and his wife Peggy, Jill Cooper and her husband Todd, Peter and Steven Warren, Chad Ellertson, Marissa and Jenna Ellertson; great-grandchildren: Kate and Daniel McElwain, Owen and Wyatt Cooper; sister-in-law Phyllis Hensley and her husband Spike of Grants Pass, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents: Estel Albert and Vida Gilberta Shipp; brother, Edd Shipp, sister, Eula &8220;Sally&8221; Wheeler; son-in-law: Kirk Meyer.
