LANESBORO &045; The Glenville-Emmons football team put up some impressive numbers, but unfortunately second-ranked Lanesboro was even better downing the Wolverines 68-30 in their section matchup.

Lanesboro set the tone early going 94-yards for a touchdown on its second play from scrimmage.

G-E would battle back all night long getting as close as 48-22 heading into the final quarter, but it could not keep its season from coming to a close at 1-8.

After being held off the scoreboard in the first quarter, G-E would strike twice in the second.

Logan Hansen found the end zone from 7 yards out and Jarrad Knutson hit Aaron Wuerflein for a 21-yard score to make it 41-14 at halftime.

The Wolverines went deep into their bag of tricks for the lone third quarter touchdown as a double pass from Knutson to Hansen to Wuerflein resulted in a 52-yard strike for a touchdown.

G-E&8217;s final score came on a Hansen to Knutson hook up from 13 yards out.

Lanesboro would increase its lead with a couple of late touchdowns against the G-E reserves.

G-E finished the game with 186 yards rushing and 282 through the air. Knutson threw for 184 yards, ran for 80 and caught the ball twice for 16 yards. For all his success he did have a few problems throwing six interceptions in the game including four in the first quarter alone.

Wuerflein finished the night with nine receptions for 169 yards while Nick Stadheim led the defense with 17 tackles.

&8220;This is not how we wanted the season to end but we have no complaints about the kids&8217; effort,&8221; G-E head coach Jim Smith said. &8220;We struggled losing four offensive linemen over the season, but we still put up over 500 yards of offense in a couple of games. The kids did it under a steep learning curve and played well.&8221;
