Trains jump tracks

A train jumped the railroad tracks near Myers Road and Highway 65 at 4:38 p.m. Monday. Fire and ambulance crews were notified about the incident, and it was estimated that the crossing would be blocked for about three hours.

Later, at 11:58 p.m., four train cars filled with grain derailed near County Road 34 and Moscow Street in Oakland. Both incidents were resolved, police reports stated.

Police arrested Melissa Ann Lowy, 48, for fourth-degree DWI charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Katherine Street. Lowy was held for $1,000 bail, police reports stated.

Police arrested Ryan Ervin Whelan, 24, for fourth-degree DWI charges Saturday at 2:30 a.m. in the alley between Minnesota Avenue and Johnson Street, according to police reports.

Man cited after head-on collision

Police cited Raymond Carl Hanson, 83, with failure to yield to a motor vehicle Friday at 6:24 p.m., after a head-on collision with another vehicle at the intersection of South Broadway Avenue and East Front Street.

One female in the second vehicle obtained a head injury, according to police reports.
