Virginia Davies, 84

Funeral services for Virginia (Ginny) W. Davies will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Virginia died early Sunday morning at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center. She was 84 years of age.
Ginny was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Emil and Mamie (Toenges) Loeffler. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. On March 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to Dick Davies in Osage, Iowa. They moved frequently while her husband was in the service and settled in Albert Lea in 1945.
Virginia worked for a short time as a telephone operator, but spent most of her life caring for and raising her family. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and was active in Women&8217;s Victory Circle and Caring and Sharing. Virginia was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had a great love of animals.
She is survived by her son Dick and his wife Donna of Albert Lea; grandsons Scott and his wife Kathleen of Cleveland, Minn., and Doug and his wife Darla of Glenville; and great-grandchildren Sydney, Spencer, April and Heather. One sister also survives, Shirley Hansen of Albert Lea and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, son Tommy, and daughter Mary Sue, one brother Kenneth Schmidt and sisters Viola Lindholm and Bernice Christenson.
Memorials are preferred to the Freeborn County Humane Society.
