2006 Albert Lea Tribunes All-Area Volleyball Team

First team
Megan Pederson, Lake Mills, Senior
The Albert Lea Tribune Co-Player of the Year repeated the honor from last year and improved on fantastic junior numbers posting an area-high 441 kills while serving at 96 percent and finishing third on the team with 226 digs.
Annika Smed, Albert Lea, Junior
The Albert Lea Tribune Co-Player of the Year was the Albert Lea&8217;s go-to player in crunch time racking up 355 kills to lead all Minnesota area players. She displayed a solid all-around game leading the team in digs and serving aces and was second in blocks.
Kat Ladwig, Albert Lea, Senior
As long as a pass could get made Ladwig was going to make a good set for the Tigers as she had 572 assists on the season. She also contributed with 99 kills, 31 blocks and 211 digs to help key the Tigers&8217; successful season.
Caitlin Moore, Lake Mills, Senior
Formed the other half of a dynamic duo for the Bulldogs racking up 229 kills and a team- high 50 aces. Moore was a first-team all-conference performer for the Bulldogs who won 34 times this season.
Ashley Lau, Glenville-Emmons, Senior
The Wolverine senior was a dominant force for her team averaging 13 points per match. She led the way with 333 kills on the season
and added 194 digs. Lau made the successful transition from the middle to the outside in her final season.
Second team
Alysa Bratten, NRHEG, Senior
Bratten provided the Panthers with an imposing presence at the net recording 203 kills and 48 blocks as NRHEG made the deepest postseason run in the area.
Haley Johnson, Alden-Conger, Sophomore
A tremendous server who went 98 percent for the season and was a leader in the front row with 45 solo blocks and 58 kills for the Knights.
Shawnee Sovell, United South Central, Junior
She was dominant at the net especially during the second half of the season for the Rebels. Had 109 blocks and 66 kills giving USC its strongest front row player.
Karissa Olson, Glenville-Emmons, Junior
The junior did a little of everything for the Wolverines with 78 kills, served at 89 percent racked up 231 digs and was one of the team&8217;s best passers. Showed great improvement throughout the season.
Courtney Kingland, Lake Mills, Senior
She had the busy task of keeping all of the Bulldog hitters happy dishing out 877 assists and serving at a 90 percent clip with 58 aces for the conference champion Bulldogs.
Third team
Kate Hartman, Northwood-Kensett, Freshman
Led the team with 144 kills and 74 blocks for a Vikings squad that went 9-14 and won its first-round regional match.
Chandra Hundley, Albert Lea, Senior
Hundley was second on the team in digs with 223, fourth in kills with 84
and fourth in serving aces giving the Tiger attack some balance.
Caitlin Skjeie, Lake Mills, Senior
Skjeie did it all over the court for the Bulldogs with 166 kills, 46 serving aces and 233 digs for the powerful Lake Mills squad. Was yet another strong hitter for the team.
Lindsey Dahl, United South Central, Sophomore
Dahl put up solid all-around numbers for the Rebels with 96 kills and 81 blocks giving the team an athletic front row presence to team with Sovell.
Cailin Timm, NRHEG, Junior
Timm teamed with Bratten leading the way with 61 solo blocks and was second with 84 kills while serving at 95 percent on the season.
