Wreaths mark the coming of Christmas. The wreaths at Northbridge Mall also mark the joining of community to help raise funds for the United Way.
The United Way of Freeborn County&8217;s Wreaths for a Reason campaign started this week and will continue through Nov. 30.
&8220;It&8217;s a cool way to get some holiday decorations up and raise money for the United Way the organizations it helps support,&8221; said David Bonnerup, United Way director.
People and organizations from throughout the community can donate creatively designed or themed wreaths to the campaign to be placed on display in a silent auction at Northbridge Mall.
Mall guests can bid on the wreaths until the final day when the United Way will announce the auction winners.
&8220;Hopefully we get them up before the holiday shopping season this weekend,&8221; Bonnerup said.
The United Way has already started taking in wreaths for the campaign, but submissions can be made until Nov. 30 by stopping by Troy Irvine&8217;s Edward Jones office at the mall.
This is the second time the United Way has done the Wreaths for a Reason campaign. The first time was in 2004.
